Sprint Replaced My Phone

Who new sprint was doing this!?!

I walked right into a sprint store after my MotoQ 9c had a screen go blank and 1 hour later got a new phone. Actually it wasn’t that easy, but much easier than my last sprint phones that have gone down.

While on vacation the screen on my MotoQ 9c went blank. Everything else worked, except the screen. I could feel the thing vibrate indicating I was getting email, it would turn on, and very very very faintly I could see the home screen, if I was in the light.

So I went to the first store. They said, sorry we’re not a service center, but if you take it to the service center at XYZ Sprint Store, they’ll be able to either fix it or replace it. Great, gotta pay $500 for a new phone I thought. Nope, the rep told me it would be between $25 and $50.

So I called around, and had to speak to a few supervisors, and sure enough, 3 calls later, I found a guy who said, no problem, we’ll just replace it with an in-store phone if we don’t have a direct replacement.

Sure enough, $50.

So the story is, take your phone to a service center, ask for a supervisor, and hope that the phone gets replaced….

We Just Had the Longest Rant About Sprint

We just had the longest rant about sprint over in our February Rants from a disgruntled Sprint customer, Steve.

This rant just edged out our previous long rant about Sprint still Sucking. A quick excerpt before you all head over there.

1/30/07 I received a bill for $633 (early termination fee for 3 phones & a late charge). I called Sprint customer service rep (Princess) and explained the story again. After our conversation, Princess said that the account would be closed and I would receive a statement saying a balance of 0. She also said that I could call back after 48 hrs to see if the issue was resolved.

Sprint Cuts 5,000 Jobs (Hopefully in Offshore Call Centers)

Sprint, who is known for horrible customer service, both on the phone and in the stores, is cutting 5,000 jobs says a new report from Cnn Money.

The cut comes from Sprint/Nextel realizing “lower margins” says the report. A realization that sent shares of Sprint tumbling 8%.

I can’t see how cutting jobs can result in better customer service, not that that’s what they were saying would happen, but that’s what I’d want. And probably you’d want. Better customer service is what they should focus on and maybe they wouldn’t be the 3rd biggest mobile provider behind AT&T and Verizon.

    Does Sprint Really Care?

Sprint has a new website dedicated to finding out how they did to help their customers out.

Do they really care? Do they have anyone reading this and responding to how they did? It seems like a pretty good tactic to allow people to feel like Sprint is actually doing something with their service. You right they stunk they’ll fix it right? That’s what we’re suppossed to feel right?

Well, not sure, but you can give it a try over at www.sprintcares.com

    Rants around the Web 10-03-06

Thought I would start a new section called rants around the web. I’m always looking for new ranters and new rant stories so I thought this would be fitting.

Here’s one person who really hates sprint, wasting time and money, check out Praxxus.

Here’s another “I hate sprint” post related to switching plans and expiring numbers. Interesting story. Check it out at TechnoTaste

Even Yahoo Answers gets into the hating of Sprint

Track your Fantasy Football Team from your Phone

All you fantasy football junkies can now get your real-time statistics, text alerts with official NFL injury reports and scoring, manage your team while away from your desktop, and many more updates, says Sprints Press Release Department.

Sprint has team with NFL and NFL.com to create NFL Mobile and NFL.com Fantasy Companion which are made for mobile applications and exclusively for Sprint customers. You can customize the mobile companion to your Fantasy Football needs and track all the information that is applicable to you.

Sprint claims that the stats are updated “within two seconds of game action” which makes them the fastest update and delivery of NFL information for fans and fantasy players. Now you and I both know that our Vision wireless internet doesn’t refresh that quickly but Sprint allows you to setup text messages for specific teams or players and receive text messages when the action occurs. Awesome, so there is just another charge for you to deal with, and with  text message prices increasing from 10 cents to 15 cents a message, you could easily get quite a few dollars in overages.

But the idea seems interesting and the fact that Sprint has worked with NFL and NFL.com to create a better system for Fantasy leaguers to get their stats wherever they are is great.

You download NFL Mobile by texting NFL to 7777 or if you have PCS Vision you can get it from Power Vision home and is free to those customers. Hmmmmm…….. Does that mean if you don’t have Sprint PCS Vision you not only have to pay for your dang phone and text messaging but you have to pay for the service to even allow you to recieve these text messages? If someone out there is using this we’d love your feedback on this wonderful service.

Thanks, Sprint Sucks and Forum Coming Soon

Thanks to those of you making this the best ranting month at sprint rants yet, we are currently at over a rant a day, which I guess is a real bad thing if you’re a sprint customer. Now yes I realize that some of those are people trying to help but a rant is a rant, and Sprint still sucks.

Just to keep you all updated, we are going to make the Sprint Rant Forum Live within the next week. In it you’ll find fellow ranters, sprint representatives, and tips and more to help you move your ranting and sprint service moans to the next level.

You’ll be able to swap phones, bitch to customer service reps, figure out promos, figure out the ins and outs of sprint suckage. This and that and more.

We should have several qualified people dropping in on a regular basis to see how things are and to answer questions and you can rant and rave all you want there as well.

We’re not sure if it’s going to take off but at least it’ll be another place where people can try and figure out how to better their crappy sprint service!

Sprint Giving the Power to the Customer?

Sprint announced today it’s new forward looking plan to empower the consumer to do… well, I’m not really sure, but it’s got to be something.

    Sprint’s new slogan…

    “Sprint. Power Up.”

As catch as “Sprint, Together with Nextel” is, I am always a fan of references to Super Mario. Anytime I can use my phone and power up will be a good day in my book.

Their latest press release stated that “Sprint believes its power should be in the hands of the customer.” Saying thinds like their “holding lightening in a jar,” and “the industry’s most fair and rich calling plans.” Well I’d like a cross service provider comparison to see who really does have the most fair and rich (what the hell does rich mean anyway) calling plans. I’d imagine not Sprint.

Really if you dig through their whole Sprint Press realease you can’t find a damn thing that will be new and improved to empower the sprint customer. It looks like the same Sprint Suckage as before.

    We’ll see though.

    Sprint Gives Customers the Power

Sprint PCS following Disney Mobile, It’s Partner?

PhoneMag ImageWe would have thought disney would have put into their licensing agreement with Sprint PCS that Sprint couldn’t come out with phones that would one up their Disney collection but maybe the execs at Disney, or maybe Sprint are just banking on the Disney name to sell more useless phones.

And if that wasn’t confusing then you’ll love the fact that I am pleased (no sarcasm there) to announce that Sprint has finally found a purpose for adding that dang locational GPS to your cell phones 5 years ago.

They’re newest phones, such as the Sanyo 2400 Sprint PCS Vision Phone will allow parents to not only control who they call and who can call them, but will allow parents to know where their children are at all times.

This new service now works on 30 phones from Sprint (I didnt’ even know they had that many phones) and allows the parent to keep track of 58 children. Great, now a football coach can keep track of all his boozing football players.

This seems to be a positive direction for sprint phones and technology in general. Not sure how many parents will use this feature. Probably the parents who didn’t let their kids cross the street in the first place but at least it’s available to those who allow them to go clubbing at the age of 12.
