Sprint Won’t Replace My Phone

As quick as I wrote about Sprint replacing my broken phone easily they’ve gone and taken the option away. Or so I’ve been told in a recent interaction with Sprint.

As you may have read, Sprint allowed me to replace an obviously defective phone. The phone in question was a Moto Q and the screen suddenly went blank on me. I took it in, and $50 later, I received a new phone. I didn’t have to have the insurance which sucks because you need to send the phone to a different location and receive it by mail. Instead, Sprint replaced it with a phone they had in-house.

Well, my phone broke again, this time due to my own causes, so obviously I was going to pay for the replacement, but then I asked about this new replacement service. Just for fun. And to my surprise, less than a year later, they’ve done away with the service. No more replacing of phones for $50.

It must be because this would allow Sprint to have too much customer service. Something that they are definitely not known for. Obviously it must be because they were losing money from it. Right? Losing money or not on the short term by replacing phones is one thing, but what about the long term effects? What about all those customers just looking for a reason to go to AT&T?

Just another thing that you can rant about as a Sprint customer.
