What is 3G?

Heard of 3Gupload.com unlimited ringtones? Heard of 3G anything? What is 3G you wonder?

3G is short for third-generation protocols, which can support much much faster data rates than required by voice transfer protocols previously used in most mobile phone services prior to 2001. 3G data rates are measured in Mbps and its protocols can handle full motion video, as well as internet services, such as downloading ringtones from services such as 3gupload.

3G started in Japan and continued into the states shortly there after. Similar technology used in the UK is referred to as UMTS.

First generation was analog cellular services, second generation was digital, and third generation is a more packatized digital service that can allow large amounts of data to be transferred quickly.

    CEO Forsee on Wireless Content

In a recent interview with Forbes Magazine, Sprint’s CEO Gary Forsee, explained where he feels he is taking Sprints Wireless Content, such as mobile web pages and mobile web content. Forbes Magazine asks:

“How do multimedia and wireless content fit into Sprint’s future? “

    To which Forsee replies:

“Data services, meaning content, can provide a great experience if you can find the right applications that consumers can adopt and take advantage of. I think the breakthrough comes when that content on the device is very usable and very accessible. If you have to go through ten clicks to get to your favorite application, that?s not going to be as convenient or usable. So we’re spending a lot of time and attention on the usability of the applications.”

Great! Haven’t you had online content for over 5 years now with PCS Vision? Don’t you think it’s about time to come up some plan to make the darn thing faster and more user friendly. For those of you who have used Sprint’s mobile online anything you know what I’m talking about, navigation is hard, typing in an address is the most non-user-friendly thing I’ve ever done related to technology, and having a page load takes years of time, and the battery dies before one even gets close.

I’m putting in a vote for them to spend a little time with the designers of Apple’s iPod and come up with a way to make mobile web navigation as easy and intuitive as possible. That’s how Forsee will win the wireless battle and takeover the wireless airwaves.

Sprint Going to Buy out Remaining Affiliates and Suck

Sprint PCS is planning to deal with it’s contract breaches the only way a company that can’t deal with customer issues knows how, they’re going to take the easy way out and just buy them out. Sprint CEO Gary Forsee announced at the same time they were announcing UbiquiTel caved and sold to Sprint for $1 billion, that Sprint would continue on it’s path to “save” shareholders undue contract breach charges by buying out the remaining 4 companies of which contracts were breached.

What does this mean for Shareholders? Probably that their money will go to building one of the largest cell phone companies in the world.

What does this mean for Customers? More expansion, more customers, more crappy customer service.

Sprint can’t manage the huge customer base it has right now yet they seem to be spending more and more money on more customers not on dealing with those customers. Will this add to sprints suckage or will they be able to switch their efforts towards Sprint Customers once this buying madness is done.

    MyCircle From Alltel

Are you sick of only being able to call Sprint PCS members for your free minutes during the day. Not even Nextel members count, THEY”RE OWNED BY THE SAME COMPANY!

I know, from experience, that switching away from Sprint PCS is one of the hardest things to do. I still haven’t done it and from what it sounds like in our rants section neither have a lot of other people. You may be more persuaded however to learn that there’s a new company out there that doesn’t play favorites when it comes to their network.

Alltel is a newer but rapidly growing company that offers you the option to choose the phone number, what a novel idea, that you want to have in your network. As far as we can tell the only other plan that comes close to this is having free incoming calls. But that really does nothing for the people who are calling you. Now, if you have a lot of friends with phones like T-Mobile, you can put them on your network and call them, free for them, free for you.

With Sprint, your can’t even call customer service for free. That’s where half the damn minutes are spent calling their numbers trying to get a hold of someone who has any idea what’s going on in the world of sprint customer service.

You also get automatic dropped call credit, I knew there was some way those bastards could tell how the call was hung up, so you don’t have to worry about calling sprint, wasting minutes and trying to get minutes back while wasting them trying to call in the 10 minute block that customer service is open after your free minutes begin.

You are limited to 10 phone numbers, but really, are there more than 10 people you call on a regular basis off peak? This sounds like a great phone for my parents. Oh wait, they have Sprint PCS. Maybe we’ll all switch?

    ChaoticTruth.com Seeking 866-463-3017 Truth

I did a little more digging into the 866-463-3017 call from sprint and found a post by chaotictruth.com dealing with sprint suckage and the 866 call. They did a little investigating, or should I say a lot of investigating into the matter and came across quite a trail of websites.

Now I’m not totally sure about the trail and if it is in fact not Sprint making those calls but the trail is quite interesting and worth a look. My guess is most of those websites he uncovered are people trying to make a little money off of Google search results and payed advertising. Probably someone looking for type-in traffic on the phone number and the rest could be just people looking for search result traffic to boost their earnings.

However, it is quite possible that someone else has gotten a hold of a list of sprint numbers and is trying to spam their way into sprint customers pocket books. Either way I point the finger at Sprint. Check out the post and let us know what you think.

Receiving “The Call” or “The Text”

It seems as though, as I look at my Google referrals, that a lot of people have been receiving the call from Sprint from phone number 866-463-3017 or the 4444 sprintfreemsg text message. Both of these are annoying and waste your minutes even though they come from sprint.

I have also found a lot more resources about how much sprints sucks and been posting them here to allow readers to venture all over to find out how much sprints sucks. You can also check out my June 2006 Sprint Rants page to see what others are saying. There are also some good links that people put up linking back to their own blogs about how much sprint has been sticking it to them.

Feel free to leave a rant on our rants page and spread the word about SprintRants.com.

    Sprint Really Does Suck

OK, so maybe the title of this post is a little harsh, but if you found this page don’t you agree. I recently found a nice single page site dedicated to how much sprint sucks.

The person who developed the site went all out. You can truly feel their angst towards sprint. The site is equipped with a picture of the bill in question, a long detailed list of the interactions between accuser and sprint, as well as, get this, the audio from the phone conversations dealing with a sprint customer service representative at Harvard Collections.

Yes Sprint PCS’ collection agency contacted this guy and began calling everyday about a bill that sprint screwed up on. If you want to see what I’m talking about check out this link to my experiences with sprint. Seriously, it’s worth the phone conversations.

New Sprint Phones Don’t Give You an Option

Do you have friends who are text crazy. They’ll text you that they just had the greatest shower ever, or that their cousin’s best friend just bought the most wonderful new gadget. No regards for you or your phone bill.

Chances are they have a phone that doesn’t open text messages automatically. It used to be, with my Sanyo 8100 that I would get notified that I had text messages in my inbox. I could then choose to open the messages or not, depending on if I wanted to spend the extra $0.10 on that persons wonderful emergency message about their dogs new coat. Those were the days of fair text messaging.

Well those days are long gone for sprint users. Now with my “upgraded” Sanyo VI-2300 I know receive text messages and automatically have them open within my phone. No option, no polite asking is done, just open and display and charge my account the extra 10 cents. I hope there is a way to turn this money making scheme off but I highly doubt it. Sprint likes to sneak charges in and then give you the run around about answering why it is they are charging you with horrible overages.

I guess I have no choice but to pay the extra $5 or whatever it is and add text messaging capabilities to my wonderful bag of technology tricks. Anyone else have a better idea?

Text Message from 4444 – SprintFreeMsg

Sprint is at it again. For those of you who have gotten the call from 866-463-3017 which turns out to be sprint soliciting their own crap you’ve probably had enough right there. Some people have reported that they’ve called back and said to put their number on the do not call list for sprint (good luck with that working). But they’re at it again.

I received a text message at 5:50 am from those sprint punks telling me there are free demo games available from them for download. For one thing, I don’t even download things from my phone which they should know since they keep track of all my information. Even if I get angry with them on the phone. Thanks.

Do I really need to be told this from those guys? I think not. Just another reason sprint sucks.
