Sprint Plans to Expand Coverage to Cover the United States
Sprint announced yesterday that they will be expanding their coverage network aggressively through the end of 2006 to include millions more Americans under their umbrella of poor service. According to an article titled Sprint plans aggressive expansion and evolution of the Sprint Power Vision network over at PDA tracker:
Sprint today has the most wireless broadband coverage of any carrier.
That’s news to me. I would rather go on my experience and experience tells me that both cingular and Verizon networks get service where Sprint doesn’t. I have neighbors that can use their phones the full 31 floors of our elevator ride while my wonderful (note the sarcasm) Sprint phone looses signal the second the elevator door closes.
Maybe they should rework that statistic to say:
Sprint is able to cover you all over the United Stats, however, due to the fact that their phone towers run on such low power because they are too cheap and don’t like to treat existing customers well you can’t use your phone anywhere except on that little ant hill that you live next to. As long as everyone takes turns using the hill Sprint is able to cover everyone in the world.
That statistic allows you to say you cover a lot more people.
We’ll see if they’re coverage actually improves but my guess is making a phone call on your cell phone won’t improve much over the next year if you use Sprint or Nextel.
